Globalstar SA

Globalstar Constellation

Seventeen LEO satellite constellation for optical crosslink and communications

Program Overview

  • Mission: Globalstar’s next-generation constellation adds 17 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to enhance its mobile satellite services network. Rocket Lab is designing and manufacturing the spacecraft buses under subcontract to MDA
  • Launch: Globalstar expects launches to begin by the end of 2025
  • Scientific Objectives: Ensure service continuity and improved global connectivity by increasing capacity and reliability

Experience from 2023

Analysis

  • Served as supporting structural analyst for the Globalstar program
  • Executed full vehicle-level thermal elastic distortion analysis based on worst-case orbit temperature differentials working in conjunction with the thermal team
  • Performed last-minute hand calculations and analyses to address urgent and unforeseen challenges such as, MLI shielding design, bolted joint margins, and transportation loads, alleviating the overall workload on the lead analyst

Reporting

  • Assisted in providing margins and charts for the program's Critical Design Review (CDR)

Achievements

  • Received high praise from my manager for providing swift support to the team while simultaneously leading multiple programs including LOXSAT, Victus Haze, and various business development initiatives
