James Webb Space Telescope
(JWST)
Program
- The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was a collaboration between NASA, Northrop Grumman and other international space agencies to further discover the history of our universe. The program launched on the Ariane 5 rocket in December 2021.
Experience from 2020-2021
- Conducted dynamic simulations of the James Webb Space Telescope models, specifically the solar array and bus, using NASTRAN and FEMAP.
- Applied transient and frequency response analysis techniques to Craig-Bampton reduced models.
- Shadowed functional and environmental, including sine and random vibration, testing of the Deployable Radiator Shield Assembly (DRSA) sub-system to validate design.
- Evaluated solar array hinge structural loads to address contingency scenarios, including a shimmy and twirl case, in the event of solar array deployment failure.
- Developed detailed technical reports and delivered design review presentations to upper management and cross-functional teams.
Achievements
- Received multiple Northrop Grumman BRAVO awards for my efforts in supporting multiple sub-system tests and the solar array deployment contingency analysis.
